1st place entry in the  's Native Birds Photo Contest1. Name of the bird? American Kestrel 2. Why did you choose this bird? They are gorgeous birds and most people don't have the opportunity to see them up close. 3. What do most people in your region/country think about this bird. Is it a bird people love or is it a bird who is not very favorite in your region/country? I think that in general, American Kestrels are pretty under-appreciated. But to birders and bird enthusiasts, I think they're very loved. 4. What do you think about the bird? It's one of my favourite birds that I've had the opportunity to work with. 5. Is there something special about this bird you want to tell us? A special habit, ability.....? The American Kestrel is the smallest falcon in North America. They tend to hover before pouncing on their prey and it's amazing to watch. Comments
